Well, well, as I live and breathe, the old Irishman still lives.

Update: Alive, well, ready for a new year, still working (temporarily, planning retirement), just returned from Barcelona, Spain (3 week trans-Atlantic cruise), missed draft, but catching up on the goings on.

Went to Barcelona to see a football game, but something was lost in the translation I guess as they call it futbol over there and its played with a checkered black and white round ball everyone kicks around and chases after. Dumb. Some of those kickers are pretty good though, and I wonder why we don’t get them to come over here to the USA to play our football and kick for our teams. Must be something about the ball design I guess. Anyway, Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in the semis and lost the chance to play for the championship.

OK. I lied. I didn’t go just to see a game. I went to see the Flamingo Dancers.

But the cruise was great too.

Some interesting games.

Denver fav by 2 over Pitt in a repeat where Tebow won in overtime vs. a badly hurt Steeler team. Ben and his team were 8-9 pt. favs last out so with the transfer of Peyton to the Broncos, we have a 10+ pt. swing difference. Man, that Peyton dude must be some kinda guy to cause that swing on a brand new team. And this time, Pittsburgh should be really healthy and looking for revenge. How about little action on Big Ben getting his licks in this time.

Some other fascinating games.

New Orleans -11 vs. Wash. Saints in a real mess after the off season. No HC, lost 2 on defense, wonder how all this will affect them. Redskins going with RGIII, some saying he looks great, and the ‘Skins had a somewhat decent team but no QB last year. An a double digit spread on the 1st weekend, may throw a little down on the rookie here on the road.

Minny at home giving 3 and the hook to the Jags. Jags pitiful last year, great 1st round pick of OSU WR Blackmon, but give me a break, whose going to get it to him? QB Gabbert? Not likely. And all-day Petterson is set to return, really fired up, looking to kick ass again. I believe you AD. You got my money.

Couple other high spreads.

Chi town -9.5 vs. the new rookie Luck on the road. Hmmm. Da Lions -9.5 vs. STL, who may be improved with their draft and a QB off his unlucky sophomore season. But the Lions really looked improved last year, and could a lot better this year. Cleveland’s gonna suck bad again this year, and Philly -6.5 better start getting it together some day. K.C. / ATL pick? Strange. G.B. -6.5 / San Fran. May be a great game to watch early in the year. We’ll probably see both of them at the end also.

And NYG – 3 vs. Dallas on the 1st game of the year. Great rivalry to start the year off. Too bad it’s only on the NFL Network and half the country won’t see it.

Well gentlemen, we’ll be in and out, as the need arises, making plans for a STL. Cardinal weekend baseball games in June and will get to Vegas as soon as I can for a few days, but wifey is planning to go over Memorial day weekend. Youngest still works for Steve Wynn building his hotel/casinos. He’s headed to Macau probably soon.
